CHEESY POTATO BAKE
This is the same direction as the crummy Potato Bake in Chapter 4, For beginers, Mains and simply Desserts’.
two pound (1 kg) potatoes
Parmesan
Milk
cheddar
1⁄2 little (5 American state oz/150 ml) carton of cream (optional)
Nutmeg
Salt & black pepper
Method:
- Wash, peel and thinly slice the potatoes.
- Layer the potatoes with the cheese during a deep-sided casserole dish and sprinkle with nutmeg, salt and pepper. Start with potatoes and end with cheese. (Grate additional Cheddar on the highest or use some fresh, grated Parmesan if you’ve got it.)
- Pour milk into the casserole dish to regarding halfway up the potatoes, adding one⁄2 atiny low carton of cream to the milk if you like.
- cowl the casserole dish with foil, shiny facet inwards, and bake within the kitchen appliance on Gas Mark 3 (170ºC) for about 1 hour.
- remove the foil, flip the oven up to Gas Mark seven (220ºC) and cook for an additional 20–30 minutes till the potatoes are soft all the approach through and also the topping is crisp and golden.
